Worship!

This week we had Jeremiah Briggs a former worship leader come speak to us on the topic of worship! This man had a true heart of a worshiper! It was really cool to listen to him speak because he just has a genuine passion to bring glory to God! He has doesn't have a college degree in worship leading, he just taught us from what God has revealed to him through worshiping God.

Worship: Submission to and dependence in the Holy Sprit to bring the Father glory through Jesus!
The concept of worship is usually just the time of singing before a sermon which is a form of worship, but it is also so much more then that! Worship can be anything in your life that you are bring glory to God! It was really cool to watch this new concept sink in over the week for the community.

In the beginning of the week Jeremiah challenged us to think back to our first memory of worship and also where we have seen a true worshiper.  And I thought of this guy for both :)

 And as we talked about worship it was really cool to remember my dad as a worshiper not just because he had a great voice, but because in all that he did he looked to God! I also loved the memory this week being in the hospital and having a time of worship and even as weak as he was he still praised his God. Someone once told me that here on earth is where we get to choose to praise God even in hard time where as in heaven we get to praise God because we are there. I think it is awesome Dad fulfilled what God had planned for him here on earth and was able to praise him though his life and now he can continually sing praise to God!

    Vicki, I have been thinking about your dad a lot lately. Nov. 1 was "All Saints Day", which makes me think of the saints I know who have finished what God had planned for them. You are very blessed to have had a father like him. Hugs...

Week One in Guatemala :)

This past week we send time getting acclimated to our surroundings here in Guatemala. We did a little of sight seeing and visiting places where we will be working. Sunday we went to an English church (Journey) that is in the school that Heather use to teach, Christian Academy of Guatemala (CAG). In the afternoon we went to Antigua to the markets. Has it already been almost 2 year?!?

Wow, the last time that I posted was in May of 2014. A lot has happened between that time, a lot of change, a lot of transitions. Which ultimately means a lot of fun times, but a lot of hurt and grief. Some of you have stayed updated with me on my transitions, others maybe not (I am not even sure if I have kept up with myself). After the Bridge Street Mission School (BSMS), I went home for a season of rest while working at Target Starbucks :). I had a lot of coffee. During the mission school, I believe the Lord was calling be to stay in the West Side of Grand Rapids. After a couple of months home, I moved back down to Grand Rapids into the Girl's House! Fast forward to November where there were job changes and an internship is formed. I work part time for AVI Foodsystems, while doing "part" time ministry as an intern for the Bridge Street House of Prayer; I was the Pavilion Coordinator.
