MOVING IN!!!!!

TODAY IS MOVE IN DAY!!! CRAZY!

I can't believe it is finally here! Bridge Street Mission School here I come!!

For all of you who don't know I am doing a 8 month adventure of seeking God! I will be living in the West Side of Grand Rapids in an apartment with 5 other students and 4 staff! We will be living in community with each other for the next couple of months! My roommate is the only other girl student and the best part of that is she is one of my best friends from high school! I am so excited to go through this journey and do life with her for the next 8 months at least!!! I am  sure  we will have out ups and downs, but I am thank God that it is you Sarah!

So moving in today, hanging out tomorrow; doing some grillin! Then we are going on a camping trip for a couple of day and I quote, "This will be a time of dune climbing, canoe flipping, building relationship, sharing life stories, praying for each other, etc." SO again SUPPPPER EXCITED!!!

I want to thank everybody who has made this opportunity possible for me! A BIG thanks to all of you who have supported me, come to the fundraisers, donated stuff... THANK YOU SO MUCH! I can't express all the thanks!

Please be praying for the whole group as we start out and move in! Pray for smooth transitions and goodbyes! Pray that we may listen to God's leading and learn so much more about him as we seek him for the next 8 months!

Side note- My grandma, Betty Geurink, just left with Ride4Life bikers this morning. They are going to ride 700 miles around Lake Michigan in a week to raise money for Lakeshore Pregnancy Center! This year Grandma is riding along in the SAG wagon to help get things ready for the bikers as they come in for breaks. She plans on riding a little each day, but not the whole thing, for some reason she thinks she to old. But let me tell you she is not, she has it in her to do! Last year at this time I did the ride with her and the rest of the team! Oh the memories :)

Week One in Guatemala :)

This past week we send time getting acclimated to our surroundings here in Guatemala. We did a little of sight seeing and visiting places where we will be working. Sunday we went to an English church (Journey) that is in the school that Heather use to teach, Christian Academy of Guatemala (CAG). In the afternoon we went to Antigua to the markets. Cemeteries in Guatemala are a lot different the US as you will see in some of the pictures. We then proceed to go to the historical district of the city where we were the only white people. Guatemala has been through a lot in the past 60 years between civil war, genocides, and corruption. Worship!

This week we had Jeremiah Briggs a former worship leader come speak to us on the topic of worship! This man had a true heart of a worshiper! It was really cool to listen to him speak because he just has a genuine passion to bring glory to God! He has doesn't have a college degree in worship leading, he just taught us from what God has revealed to him through worshiping God. Worship: Submission to and dependence in the Holy Sprit to bring the Father glory through Jesus! The concept of worship is usually just the time of singing before a sermon which is a form of worship, but it is also so much more then that! Worship can be anything in your life that you are bring glory to God! It was really cool to watch this new concept sink in over the week for the community. In the beginning of the week Jeremiah challenged us to think back to our first memory of worship and also where we have seen a true worshiper.  And I thought of this guy for both :)  And as we talked about worship i

Has it already been almost 2 year?!?

Wow, the last time that I posted was in May of 2014. A lot has happened between that time, a lot of change, a lot of transitions. Which ultimately means a lot of fun times, but a lot of hurt and grief. Some of you have stayed updated with me on my transitions, others maybe not (I am not even sure if I have kept up with myself). After the Bridge Street Mission School (BSMS), I went home for a season of rest while working at Target Starbucks :). I had a lot of coffee. During the mission school, I believe the Lord was calling be to stay in the West Side of Grand Rapids. After a couple of months home, I moved back down to Grand Rapids into the Girl's House! Fast forward to November where there were job changes and an internship is formed. I work part time for AVI Foodsystems, while doing "part" time ministry as an intern for the Bridge Street House of Prayer; I was the Pavilion Coordinator.
