GUATEMALA!!!

Our adventure started yesterday at 5:30am with the smell bacon wafting through my room because the guys had to have some before left :) We were suppose to pack at 6:00 and then leave at 6:30 but... the van didn't start...We got off on the road! and then realized we were missing a passport :) but Andrew saved us and meet us with it! We finally got to O'Hare but not before the windshield would freeze and the wiper fluid didn't work so Derek would spray it with solution at the toll booths :)

O'Hare though was a breeze, thank you God! Flight to Atlanta and Guatemala were chill! On the way to Guatemala there was a family with two young kids! The little girl was getting a little anxious and I had a open seat next to me, decide I should get out of my comfort zone already and asked her to color with me! It was so rewarding:) but she spoke minimal English mainly French so I couldn't even practice my Spanish :)  Got to Guatemala and got our luggage, but Sarah's was not in Guatemala it was in LA :) hoping to get it today!

We got to our house last night at about 10pm Guatemala time! Where we are staying is super nice... maybe even nice than our's at home :) Here is some pics:) little out of order sorry

 Can I also say that I am suppppper happy that it is 70 degrees down here instead of -9 back in Michigan :)

Week One in Guatemala :)

This past week we send time getting acclimated to our surroundings here in Guatemala. We did a little of sight seeing and visiting places where we will be working. Sunday we went to an English church (Journey) that is in the school that Heather use to teach, Christian Academy of Guatemala (CAG). In the afternoon we went to Antigua to the markets. Guatemala has been through a lot in the past 60 years between civil war, genocides, and corruption. Worship!

This week we had Jeremiah Briggs a former worship leader come speak to us on the topic of worship! This man had a true heart of a worshiper! It was really cool to listen to him speak because he just has a genuine passion to bring glory to God! He has doesn't have a college degree in worship leading, he just taught us from what God has revealed to him through worshiping God. Worship: Submission to and dependence in the Holy Sprit to bring the Father glory through Jesus! The concept of worship is usually just the time of singing before a sermon which is a form of worship, but it is also so much more then that! Worship can be anything in your life that you are bring glory to God! It was really cool to watch this new concept sink in over the week for the community. In the beginning of the week Jeremiah challenged us to think back to our first memory of worship and also where we have seen a true worshiper.  And I thought of this guy for both :)  And as we talked about worship i

Has it already been almost 2 year?!?

Wow, the last time that I posted was in May of 2014. A lot has happened between that time, a lot of change, a lot of transitions. Which ultimately means a lot of fun times, but a lot of hurt and grief. Some of you have stayed updated with me on my transitions, others maybe not (I am not even sure if I have kept up with myself). After the Bridge Street Mission School (BSMS), I went home for a season of rest while working at Target Starbucks :). I had a lot of coffee. During the mission school, I believe the Lord was calling be to stay in the West Side of Grand Rapids. After a couple of months home, I moved back down to Grand Rapids into the Girl's House! Fast forward to November where there were job changes and an internship is formed. I work part time for AVI Foodsystems, while doing "part" time ministry as an intern for the Bridge Street House of Prayer; I was the Pavilion Coordinator.
